Hunslet take on Dewsbury

Paul March, Richard Chapman, Joe Helme and Tom Haughey are all set to return to the Hunslet Hawks team as coach March looks for an immediate response after last week’s 38-12 defeat at Batley.

March will make six changes in all – none of them forced by injuries – in a bid to rediscover the club’s winning formula.

March said: “We caved in mentally against Batley, and you can’t do that in this division.

“We’re looking to rectify things this week. It’s an ideal opportunity to show everybody in the Rugby League world that the game at Widnes wasn’t just a fluke.

“We can play, we can tough it out and we can entertain, but the main focus for our players is that we get a performance back on Thursday.”

But this week’s Co-operative Championship clash with Dewsbury Rams is likely to provide an extremely stern test for the Hawks.

Dewsbury’s last game was an impressive 35-6 win against Toulouse on March 19.

They had last week off, giving the Rams’ squad plenty of time to recover and prepare to face Hunslet.

Coach Warren Jowitt will assess Luke Menzies (shoulder), Scott Turner (ankle) and Pat Walker (hand) before finalising his squad.
