Hunslet forward Chris Buttery has been released with immediate effect.

Buttery, 26, has agreed a mutual termination of his contract and is expected to sign with National Conference League outfit Hunslet Warriors.

Hawks Director of Rugby, Darren Williams, said: “Chris had a knee complaint that kept him out of our early season friendlies, his work commitments then increased meaning he couldn’t attend training regular and at this stage in his career he has decided he wants to spend more time with his family and play a level of Rugby that he doesn’t have to put as much time and commitment into.

“We wish him well; it’s a shame as he was a major off season signing for the club but like alot of players at this level he has decided he just wants to play the game for fun and put his other commitments first.”

Buttery previously came through the academy system at Leeds, and also played for Batley and Dewsbury.
