Hunslet Hawks coach Barry Eaton believes this weekend’s Northern Rail Cup tie again 5th placed Sheffield Eagles could be a crucial turning point in their season.

The Hawks are currently lying in last place in the Co-operative Championship on the back of a seven game winless streak and Eaton feels this game is vital to Hunslet’s survival.

The Hunslet boss outlined the task ahead of them.

He said, “We know Sheffield will be a tough side and we couldn’t play them at a worse time following their defeat to Leigh last weekend. They will want to respond to that defeat on Friday but I have confidence in my players.

“Our fans haven’t had much to shout about this season, so it would be great if we could get to the Northern Rail Cup Final as it would be a great way to thank them for sticking with us.

“That’s our aim and beating Sheffield is first on the agenda.”

The successful side will be put into the semi final draw which will be made at 5:00pm this Sunday.
