Hunslet hand contract extensions to trio

Hunslet have continued their plans for next season by the retention of three members of their current squad.

Centre Josh Nathaniel, hooker Luke Haigh and half-back Luke Helliwell have all agreed to one-year contract extensions.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said: “We’re delighted to retain all three players, Luke Haigh has played in every game this year and his game has developed hugely especially in attack, Luke Helliwell has had a disrupted year with several injuries but has shown enough to warrant this extension and his work ethos is superb, while Josh is the current leading try scorer who is a real attacking threat and has a promising career in front of him.

“Talks are continuing with other squad members and potential new recruits and we hope to be in a position to make more announcements next week.”

Nathaniel is the Hawks’ top try scroer with seven tries in 17 appearances, while Haigh is a virtual ever present, playing 22 times this season.
