Hunslet add Coventry

Hunslet have confirmed a signing as they continue to build their squad for the 2017 season.

Prop Jack Coventry, who is leaving Featherstone Rovers, has signing a one-year deal with Hunslet.

“As soon as Jack became available we moved swiftly to secure his services,” said Hunslet director of rugby Darren Williams.

“He came in on loan and made an instant impression, he is a model professional and his performances impressed.

“He’s still young in his development for a middle unit and we think with a full pre-season and more games under his belt, he will flourish and continue to improve.”

Coventry himself is looking forward to the chance to impress with the south Leeds outfit.

“I really enjoyed my time on loan at Hunslet, the players and the backroom staff made me feel so welcome, i knew straight away it was a good place to be,” he said.

“The whole feeling around the club was great and the fans support, although small in numbers was immense.

“The guidance from the senior professionals at the club made it easy to adapt and feel part of the squad and after hearing what James and Darren had to say on the vision for the club i had no hesitation in deciding to stay and be a fully fledged Hunslet player.

“I am hoping to play my part in the club pushing for promotion in 2017.”
