Hull to turn to youth at Wigan

Hull FC coach Lee Radford is set to use plenty of his club’s young players, as he battles a cripplingly long injury lost ahead of Friday’s trip to Wigan.

Richard Whiting, Joe Westerman, Steve Michaels and Josh Bowden were added to that list after the game against Warrington at the weekend, and Westerman, Michaels and Bowden will not play again this season.

With 12 players in total out of action, Radford sees it as an ideal opportunity to give youngsters game time.

“It gives us a great opportunity to give some more of our academy players a proper chance in the first-team,” he said.

“It is obviously a massive blow to have so many first-team players missing but we will still look to put up as strong a side as possible against Wigan.

“It is what it is and we have to take it on the chin. We cannot sulk and feel sorry for ourselves.

“Many of the young players have done well for the Under 19s and this is now their chance to show what they can do.”
