Hull smash season ticket sales record

Hull have announced that season ticket sales have smashed through the 8,500 barrier to set a new club record.

It’s the fifth consecutive year that the Airlie Birds have broken their previous record, with anticipation ahead of the new season heightened by the arrival of signings in the shape of Sean Long, Craig Fitzgibbon, Mark O’Meley and Jordan Turner.

Hull FC Chief Executive James Rule praised the club’s fans.

“We knew we looked set for another club record when we looked at the figures a couple of weeks ago and we have been astonished once again by the support from the fans as they continue to buy passes and on behalf of the club, I would like to thank every one of them.

“The Old Faithful are simply the best supporters in the game and once again they continue to back their club in style,” he said.

“They have out bought many clubs this season, they will certainly continue to out sing many other clubs this season and we sincerely hope that this year, with the promising squad that Richard Agar has assembled, we can repay the faith they have shown in us.”

He added, “When we took the step last year to officially name them as the 18th man and retire the squad number 18, it was for exactly this reason that we felt they were deserving of such a tribute.”

As well as season passes, shirt sales are also proving just as popular at Hull this season, with the current total already closing in on 7,000 sales, with certain names such as Long, Fitzgibbon, Lauaki and Old Faithful-18 proving extremely popular.
