Hull need to build confidence for cup semi-final

Hull centre Josh Griffin says they need to find some form leading in to their Challenge Cup semi-final against Warrington at the end of the month.

The Airlie Birds were hammered 40-12 by leaders St Helens last Friday, eight days after going down to derby rivals Hull KR.

They face London Broncos in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Thursday, before taking on relegation haunted Leeds.

Griffin said: “The last couple of weeks we’ve not been the same team that’s got us into third place,” Griffin admitted. “Our season has been built on hard work and doing the basics of the game right.

“The last two matches we’ve coughed up a lot of ball so this week we need to go back to what we’ve been doing well.

“We’re still in third place and we’re still in the Challenge Cup semi-final but Wigan are right on our heels and they’re probably the form team at the moment, so we’ve got to build some confidence from our next two games against London and Leeds going into the semi-final.”

The 2016 and 2017 Challenge Cup winners take on the Wolves, last year’s losing finalists, as part of the double-header at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday July 27.
