Hull KR’s plan for Warrington Wolves as midweek match presents challenge
Hull KR head coach Willie Peters arrives ahead of a game in 2026
Willie Peters has admitted Hull KR will be kept off the training field as much as possible as they prepare for two more games in quick succession.
The Robins won their first of three games in nine days as they defeated Catalans Dragons, a win that moved them six points clear of St Helens in seventh.
They were always in control during the 28-10 victory, with Jack Broadbent scoring twice in the opening quarter as they opened up an 18-point lead in no time.
I thought the first 20 minutes was excellent and then probably after that, not so good,” Peters said on Sky Sports. “Catalans didn’t go away and we made it easy as well in terms of turning the ball over, giving up field position, especially in that second half.
“We just want to tick them off. So we’ve got one, which is great. We don’t want to review that too much. We’ll have a look at it, but obviously the coaches will have a look, but we won’t go into it too much.
“I think there’s some things I like early on, but certainly as the game went on, I just thought we were a little bit loose and yeah, a lot of drop balls. So look, we’ve got a short turnaround, as I said, into another one, short turnaround into another one. So all we want to do now is make sure the players recover.
“There’s a few bumps and bruises and that’s the most important thing there.”
Rovers will now prepare for Warrington with minimal time on the field. Explaining their plan for the next block of games, Peters said: “We’ll do two days of training, one captain’s run and the day before. There’s not a lot of field sessions or high-intensity field sessions, which we normally do when you’ve got a seven-day turnaround or longer.
