Hull KR have signed former Castleford and Salford prop Lee Jewitt on an 18-month deal.

The 30-year-old joins the club from Townsville Blackhawks, the feeder team for the North Queensland Cowboys, having previously racked up over 150 Super League appearances for Castleford and Salford.

Jewitt, who initially came through the ranks of Wigan’s academy and also had a spell at French side Limoux in-between his time with the Tigers and Red Devils, has signed a contract with the Robins until the end of 2018.

Rovers’ boss Tim Sheens said: “Lee is a welcome addition to the group and he’s looking forward to getting started with us. At this stage, we’d hope to see him debut for the club next week.

“He’ll help to improve our forward pack and his experience will be invaluable in the big games towards the end of the year.”
