Hull KR have released winger Sam Latus to allow him to sign for another club for the rest of the season.

Latus, 23, made 38 appearances for Rovers having come through their academy system, scoring 14 tries.

CEO Mike Smith commented: “Sam has been a great servant to the club and a consummate professional at all times. He hasn’t figured as much as he’d have liked in the first team this year and both parties felt Sam probably needs a fresh start.

“We’ve agreed to release him from his contract now so that he has the best possible opportunity to find a new club. On behalf of everyone at Hull KR I’d like to thank Sam for his contribution to the club and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Latus has seen appearances limited at Craven Park this season, his last coming in the 84-6 home drubbing against Wigan.

He has recently been turning out for Gateshead on dual-registration in Championship 1.
