Hull KR plan more NRL recruitment with Srama in their sights

Gold Coast Titans hooker Matt Srama is a target for Hull Kingston Rovers, according to reports in the Hull Daily Mail and in Australia.

The Robins are also apparently looking at strengthening their front row options with another raid for a prop from the NRL.

Srama is not reportedly that keen on a move to the UK, however, and is also recovering from an operation to correct a congenital defect in his hip and groin.

“Matt has met with Neil Henry and they’ve told him he is free to go,” said Srama’s brother and manager Paul in Australian paper the Courier Mail.

“There is a contract for him in the UK if he wants to go and the Titans would give him an extra $50,000 if he wanted to play over there.

“But Matt is not really keen on moving overseas at this stage. He’s just bought a new home.

“We’ll look around and see if there is interest from NRL clubs but ideally Matt is keen to break back into the Titans.”

Rovers are also reportedly looking at bringing another prop forward over to the UK, but have limited room on their overseas quota.

With Mick Weyman, Ken Sio, Maurice Blair and Albert Kelly already signed, Rovers have one quota spot left vacant.

For that reason, their ideal recruit would be a player with European heritage who is eligible for an EU passport.
