Hull KR launch 2010 shirts

More than 1,000 of the new Hull Kingston Rovers home and away replica shirts were sold last weekend as they went on sale for the first time in Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

Rovers-mad supporters began to queue inside Princes Quay more than two hours before the shirt launch presentation got underway with Jake Webster, Rhys Lovegrove, Scott Taylor and new signing Matt Cook swapping the pitch for the catwalk to model some of the new training and leisure wear.

They were joined by female models including two students from one of the club’s new shirt sponsors- the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education.

After that whetted the appetite of the hundreds of red and whites in attendance, the new home and away shirts were seen side-by-side for the very first time to the delight of the waiting masses who filled the bottom floor of the shopping centre and took every vantage point on the floors above.

Once the presentation was completed the doors to the shop opened and the first fans got their hands on the shirts which feature new major club sponsor Sportingbet across the chest, with the home and away jerseys proving equally popular.

The players then signed autographs and posed for photographs in the giant ‘Snow Globe’ with the Robins faithful.

Supporters turned out in huge numbers to get their replicas on Saturday and more returned on Sunday to take the total shirts sold over the two days to beyond the thousand mark.

Hull KR Operations Manager, James Elston, was thrilled with the response to the 2010 kit.

“It was great to see so many Rovers fans in Princes Quay on Saturday, once again turning out in large numbers to support the club as they always do.”

“The shirt designs aren’t as traditional as many people may have been expecting but you only have to look at the sales figures to see just how well received they have been.”

“With the Super League fixtures released and now the shirts on sale in time for Christmas it really does mark the countdown to the start of what everyone hopes will be another successful season starting with the home game against Salford City Reds on February 7th.”

James added: “Princes Quay provided us with a fantastic facility to sell the shirts from and we can’t thank them enough for that.  Sales over the weekend were great and there have been big queues outside our retail store on Holderness Road this morning as the demand for shirts continues.”

Both shirts are on sale at both of the club’s official retail stores at Craven Park and on 269 Holderness Road and make perfect Christmas gifts for all the family.
