Hull Kingston Rovers CEO Mike Smith has paid tribute to the travelling Castleford Tigers support that will visit Humberside this weekend.

There are due to be around 1,500 Tigers supporters to watch the opening weekend fixture at the KC Lightstream Stadium, making Daryl Powell’s side the best supported team at the stadium in recent years.

This has caused the Robins CEO Mike Smith to thank the supporters for the way in which the Tigers are getting behind the team.

“We’ll definitely be starting the new 2016 season with a bang on Sunday and I’d like to place on record my thanks for the way Steve Gill, the Castleford club and its supporters have got behind the game,” he said.

“The response from everybody at the Tigers has been superb and their fans will really travel in numbers to support their side this weekend. I’m sure it will be a fantastic advertisement for the sport at the KC Lightstream Stadium this Sunday.

“We also have Erasure’s Andy Bell performing a rendition of our Challenge Cup charity song ‘A Little Respect’ before kick-off so it will feel like a special occasion inside the ground and we hope supporters from both clubs enjoy the experience.”
