A penalty goal from Jamie Ellis in the final minute sealed a 24-22 win for Hull KR against Salford at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Hull KR opened the scoring at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as Mikey Lewis scored his first professional try, with Ellis converting.

Salford hit back in the 23rd minute thanks to Connor Jones. Ed Chamberlain added the extras to level the score at 6-6.

Tony Smith’s side led 12-6 at the break as Ben Crooks touched down out wide.

Salford forward Luke Yates levelled the score once more shortly after the second half restart before Lewis got his second and edged Hull KR back in front.

Ian Watson’s side made the score 18-18 thanks to an Olly Ashall-Bott try in the 67th minute, but the score didn’t remain level for long as Jordan Abdull crossed for the Robins two minutes later.

The score was tied again with three minutes left on the clock as Chamberlain went over for the Red Devils – but Ellis slotted a penalty goal in the dying embers to secure a 24-22 win for the Robins.
