Ian Watson’s Giants displayed a dominant second-half performance over an injury-hit Hull KR side, which also included a hat-trick for veteran centre Leroy Cudjoe.

Huddersfield extend their winning streak to six in Super League.

Match report

Tony Smith made just one change to the side that lost 26-18 to St Helens before the international break. Greg Richards returned to the side replacing the injured Luis Johnson.

For the Giants, Innes Senior and Oliver Russell both returned. Captain Luke Yates also returned from his two-match suspension.

Hull KR opened the scoring inside the first two minutes through hooker Matt Parcell. Tui Lolohea made the error kicking-off on the full, and the hosts took advantage with their first set of the clash to score. Parcell in the right place at the right time to collect a kick rebound to dive over on the last.

Ireland international Frankie Halton thought he extended the lead four minutes later, only to have his grounding disallowed by the video referee.

The Robins fell to some early injuries in the game. Elliot Minchella left the field with a head injury but later passed his test to return. However, George King and Ryan Hall  both left the field with hamstring and ribs injuries respectively. The pair did not return.

Cudjoe crossed for his first try of the season on 29 minutes. The Huddersfield centre chased down a grubber kick from Lolohea to ground the ball. Will Pryce giving his side the lead from the boot for a 6-4 score.

34-year-old Cudjoe doubled his tally just five minutes later, again chasing down a kick this time from Pryce to score.

It was a nightmare start for the hosts. Lachlan Coote’s short restart was collected by Huddersfield captain Yates, who ran 60 metres to score.

It went from bad to worse for the hosts, as Ricky Leutele scored Huddersfield’s second inside three minutes.

Cudjoe completed his hat-trick on 52 minutes, benefitting from an offload from winger McGillvary. It’s his first since 2012.

The Giants crossed again on 62 minutes as Pryce did it all himself to cross for his second try of the Super League campaign.  McGillvary scored his milestone try just three minutes later, extending his side’s lead.

Matty Storton crossed for a consolation try on 75 minutes, bouncing off two defenders to cross under the sticks.
