Hull FC’s squad has been plagued by injuries after Danny Houghton, Liam Watts, Scott Taylor and Mark Minichiello picked up knocks against Wigan Warriors on Saturday.

Club captain Houghton left the pitch in the first half with a calf injury and is expected to be out for a couple of months.

Watts (hamstring) and Minichiello (ankle) also left the field during their loss to Wigan in Wollongong are doubtful for Saturday’s double-header at the ANZ Stadium against St George Illawarra Dragons.

A bit of good news for FC though, they hope USA ace Bureta Faraimo, Jake Connor and Josh Griffin will be fit to feature after also picking up knocks in the game.

England forward Taylor has undergone surgery in Australia due to appendicitis and has already started his recovery.

Carlos Tuimavave and Chris Green are both set to play their first games of the season on Saturday after recovering from injuries.

On the injuries, FC coach Lee Radford said: “Injuries are part and parcel of the game and they give an opportunity for some of our young blokes to come into the side and stake a claim.

“We’ve brought these boys over to play so they’ll get their chance and we’re looking forward to getting the other lads back as soon as possible.

“Scott’s situation was obviously left field, but everything has gone to plan and we’ll get him back into camp as soon as possible. Everyone is sending him our best wishes.”
