Hull FC and Hull KR join forces
Super League contenders Hull FC & Hull KR have joined forces to promote Rugby League and Healthy Lifestyles to children and young people throughout Hull and the East Riding. With both sides competing in the top flight, it’s a huge boost for everyone in the city, and the profile of the sport is soaring.
Both clubs have highly effective Community Development Departments in their own right and engage children and young people through activities in primary schools, secondary schools, community groups and holiday programmes.
Beneath the umbrella of the Hull & District Service Area, both clubs will work together during the 2007 season on several specific projects aimed at maximizing the positive impact Rugby League can have on youngsters’ education, social development and confidence.
The partnership will further enhance the fantastic work which both clubs are currently undertaking in the area. The sharing of coaching resources, examples of best practice, and knowledge of funding streams will ensure both clubs are able to further develop and assist the communities within which they are situated.
General Manager of the Hull FC Foundation, Jon Flatman, commented, “Hull FC is very proud to have a vibrant and committed community programme across Hull & the East Riding. Having a partnership with Hull KR will continue to engage, educate and inspire local people of all ages with the fantastic sport of Rugby League…”
Community Development Manager at Hull Kingston Rovers, Lora Webster, added, “It makes complete sense that from time to time the two Community Development Departments join forces to increase participation in Rugby League and raise the profile of such an established and powerful sport. On field we are, of course, in direct competition with one another whereas off field, more can be achieved working together on specific projects…”
