Hull FC 10-10 Catalans Dragons

Last year’s Grand Finalists seemed to lack the intensity that took them all the way to Old Trafford in 2006, while last year’s bottom-placed club looked to have shown a notable improvement.

Ex-Canberra Raiders centre Adam Mogg – who starred for Queensland in last year’s State of Origin series – opened the scoring for the Dragons early in the first half, and the score remained at 6-0 in their favour until half time.

Danny Tickle kicked a penalty to get the Black and Whites on the scoreboard after 48 minutes, but Vincent Duport touched down to extend the Catalans’ lead still further.

Hull dragged themselves back into contention when Matt Sing took advantage of Shayne McMenemy’s pass to score and Tickle converted to bring the home side to within two points of their opponents.

Tickle then added a penalty to draw level, but missed a penalty attempt in the closing moments which could have settled the game in Hull’s favour.
