Hull facing McDonnell legal battle

Former Hull full-back Shannon McDonnell is taking legal action against the club, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

McDonnell, 26, hasn’t played for the club since last season’s Challenge Cup semi-final win against Warrington, when he suffered a torn hamstring, and was under contract until the end of 2014.

However, it is reported that he has resigned and severed all ties with Hull, and is seeking compensation after claiming the club reneged on an offer of a new contract, made when Peter Gentle was still head coach.

The Australian joined the club on a two-year deal from Hull KR ahead of the 2013 season, and made 19 Super League appearances in his first season.
