Hull FC coach Brett Hodgson was full of praise for Jake Connor after his ‘exceptional’ man of the match display in their 48-16 win over Salford.

Connor enjoyed one of his best ever individual performances on his return from suspension. He scored a try and created six others as Hull ended Salford’s unbeaten start with an impressive 48-16 win at the MKM Stadium.

Hodgson said: “At times he’s undefendable. I thought he was exceptional, phenomenal.

“We’re obviously a pretty decent team with him in it but I thought Ben McNamara and Josh Reynolds were outstanding as well.”

Hodgson also singled out Cameron Scott for praise, with the centre scoring two tries in the first half. He then went off with an ankle injury before Hull pulled away in the second half when Salford half-back Marc Sneyd was sin-binned.

Hodgson added: “I thought Cameron was excellent. It was probably his best 40 minutes for us.

“I’m pleased with the performance today. A number of players stood up, I thought our pack was immense.

“The response from last week was much better than the responses we had last year so that shows some progression.”

Hull have won two from their opening three games of the season. The Black and Whites won at Wakefield in the opening round before suffering a heavy defeat at home to champions St Helens last Saturday. They returned to winning ways in round three against Salford.

Next up for Hull is a trip to Castleford next Sunday. The Airlie Birds will come up against their former coach Lee Radford for the first time since his sacking in 2020.
