Hull 22-40 Leeds: Ash Handley hat-trick inspires Rhinos to victory over Hull

Ash Handley scored a hat-trick to help Leeds beat a spirited Hull side 40-22 at Headingley.

Hull opened the scoring through Mahe Fonua before Leeds half-back Richie Myler was sin-binned for a professional foul.

Andre Savelio extended Hull’s lead to 10-0 in the 17th minute but two tries from Jack Walker and one from Handley saw Leeds 16-10 ahead at half-time.

James Donaldson scored for the Rhinos shortly after the second half restart before Handley got his second of the night, with Rhyse Martin converting both to give Leeds a 28-10 advantage.

Hull showed great fight and spirit to come back into the game. Josh Griffin and Jack Brown scored to reduce the deficit to just six points with 18 minutes left on the clock.

Liam Sutcliffe went over for Richard Agar’s side in the 65th minute before Handley completed his hat-trick and put the game out of reach for Hull. The Rhinos finished 40-22 victors at Headingley.
