Warrington Wolves back-rower Jack Hughes has agreed a new contract to stay at the club until November 2019.

Hughes, 24, joined the club ahead of this season having previously represented fellow Super League sides Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants.

He made his Warrington debut back in February this year and has gone on to make 20 appearances, crossing for four tries.

Hughes also picked up the Man of the Match accolade in the weekend’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final win over Wakefield.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “I am delighted that Jack’s re-signed. He’s a pleasure to work with.

“He’s a very good professional and I have enjoyed watching his development. He’s been a strong, consistent performer for us this year and while he’s still developing as a young back rower he’s already showing what he’s capable of and that there’s more to come.

“He’s a really exciting prospect for the future as well as currently doing a very good job for us. He settled in exceptionally well; it’s like he’s been here for years and he’s the type of player we want to be part of our great club.”

Hughes said: “It was a no-brainer for me to extend my contract. I am really enjoying my rugby here and to be a part of this club is something I am very proud of. The club is going places on and off the field and I want to be involved in that for years to come.”
