Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson has confirmed that Brett Ferres will be out for around a month, as he will undergo surgery this week on his knee injury.

Aaron Murphy will also be absent for the home game against Wigan on Sunday, and could be out for a further one to two weeks.

Scott Grix is suspended for the game, while Leroy Cudjoe is also injured, and Chris Bailey is absent too.

“We’ve come out with some injuries and suspensions,” said Anderson, acording to his club’s official website.

Aaron Murphy won’t play this week. He’s got a similar sort of injury to what Leroy Cudjoe got, in regards to his MCL. It’s a grade 1/grade 2 injury so it’ll be a couple of weeks.

“It would have been easy for us for to take Murph’s early guilty plea and get two games but I had to try and make a point because there was nothing in it.

“Brett will have surgery on Thursday. The damage is not as bad as what we thought; he’ll probably be out for about a month.

“He just needs his joint tidying up. Leroy had surgery last Friday – he had to have some cartilage removed. It was an initial MCL injury but he had an old cartilage tear in there from a few years ago and that got flared up.

“Obviously Grixy won’t play, so we’ve got some shuffling round to do. We’re already light in our outside backs but we’ve got some good young juniors and we’ll have to mix some stuff around.”
