Huddersfield’s game against Wigan this weekend has been moved to Saturday (3pm) due to Huddersfield Town’s progress in the FA Cup.

The football club’s fifth round tie, ironically against Wigan, has been selected for TV coverage, and will be played at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday, forcing the Super League match to be brought forward 24 hours.

A Giants statement said: “The Huddersfield club can only apologise that confirmation of this was not available until now and would like to place on record their thanks to the Wigan club – in particular Chairman Ian Lenagan and Head Coach Shaun Wane for their co-operation and understanding of the situation that has arisen.

“Primacy of tenure for all Football League clubs is a stipulation for membership of the league that every club must have and in this respect the Giants, HTAFC and KSDL work very closely to avoid any clashes however in this instance circumstances have arisen beyond any control.”

All tickets already purchased are still valid for the game.
