Huddersfield have rewarded youngster Alfie Schultz with a one-year first team contract.

Schultz has progressed through the club’s scholarship and academy system and has been handed his first professional contract with the Giants.

Schultz said: “I’m absolutely buzzing, it feels like hard work has paid off for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to starting with the boys.

“Being rewarded with a first-team contract boosts my confidence more and it feels like the club believes in me more. We’ve got a good youth system, some of the boys that I’ve played with have made an impact on the first team in recent years and I would love to do the same.

“I’d love to play Super League, but the main goal is to improve and gain more from my experiences with the first team and improve my own game as much as I can.

“The dream is to play Super League, but in the next year I just want to improve myself and take as much out of it as I can.”
