Huddersfield grind Warrington down

Huddersfield have recorded just their second win of the season with a gritty 11-0 victory against Warrington at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The first half was a grinding affair with few clear-cut attacking opportunities. Both teams struggled to hold on to the ball in the wet conditions.

Huddersfield dominated field position, forcing six goal-line dropouts, but rarely looked like scoring.

Finally their pressure paid off in the 35th minute when a great Jake Connor offload put Aaron Murphy over on the left wing.

The Giants took that 4-0 lead into half-time.

Warrington had more of the ball after the break but a series of mistakes, and some solid Huddersfield defence, kept them out.

The Giants’ greater desperation was evident throughout the night.

With 15 minutes Danny Brough slotted a long-range drop goal to give them a 7-0.

Leroy Cudjoe crossed in the final quarter to seal the precious win up.
