Huddersfield and Leeds in cup ticket promotion

Tickets for the Challenge Cup fifth round clash between Huddersfield and Leeds will be available for just £8, as part of a “Yorkshires Main Event” promotion by both clubs.

The televised match takes place on Saturday 11th May (2.30pm) and tickets are now on sale, with junior season ticket holders eligible for free entry.

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said: “I am utterly fed up of reading negativity towards Rugby League so this is everyone’s chance to show the watching country what a great game Rugby League is. 

“We all know that the economy is tough right now so £8 gives everyone the chance to come down to the John Smith’s Stadium and show your support not only for your chosen club and also for the game at large. Both the Rhinos and the Giants are at the top of our games and the sudden death nature of the Challenge Cup means it really is a vital do or die game for both clubs. 

“As well as Rhinos and Giants lets urge all supporters to come down in their colours and show the country that in Yorkshire the game is proud of its heritage and keen to showcase itself for its number one Cup competition. 

“In the bigger scheme we have a World Cup at the end of the year and we see this year as being pivotal for the game and one that has the potential for great things.”

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington added: “The game is clearly the stand out fixture of the round and having been chosen by the BBC we have a great opportunity in a superb stadium to showcase our sport and put some real buzz into the Tetley’s Challenge Cup.

“It’s a unique price to pre buy and both clubs should be commended for such a bold move which hopefully will be supported by a big crowd and a great occasion.”
