Huddersfield are the latest club to outline their ambition to enter a team in the Women’s Super League.

The Giants will create an Under 19s team in 2018 with the view to producing a competitive team to enter the overall competition in 2019, by increasing women and girls rugby league participation in the local area.

Giants Head of Community Development, Jonathan Timms told the club’s official website: “We are delighted to announce plans of our woman and girls Rugby League development plan.

“As a Community Trust we are passionate about the development of female sport and are extremely excited about the journey ahead.

“I am delighted to invite females from the local area to attend our open access trial sessions as well as any potential commercial partners to join us on this exciting journey.”

St Helens, Widnes, Wigan and Leeds have all recently announced plans to join the top tier competition.
