Huddersfield ace Ellis returns to Castleford

Castleford Tigers have signed half-back Jamie Ellis from Huddersfield Giants on a three-year contract.

Ellis will be at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle until the end of the 2020 campaign and will add competition to the half-back role along with Luke Gale and Ben Roberts.

The former St Helens, Leigh Centurions and Hull FC scrum-half had a two-year spell with the Tigers between 2012 and 2014.

The 28-year-old played in a Challenge Cup Final for Hull and then moved onto Huddersfield.

However, he found chances hard to come by at the Giants so he spent a season on loan at Hull Kingston Rovers in the Championship and helped the club gain promotion back to Super League at the first time of asking.

And Ellis is made up to be returning to 2017 Betfred Super League Grand Final runners-up Castleford.

He said: “Since I’ve been away from Castleford, I’ve become a bit of a fan and I’ve really enjoyed watching all of the success that has come to the club.

“I can’t wait to get started and be a part of that. My agent called me while I was on holiday and told me that Castleford were interested and as soon as he said that, I wanted to sign the contract to come back here.”

The Lancastrian will join back up with the Tigers when they start pre-season training in November.
