Huddersfield have signed utility back Scott Grix from Yorkshire rivals Wakefield.

Grix, 25, captained Ireland at the 2008 World Cup and has signed a two-year deal at the Galpharm Stadium.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m looking to progress my career and I can’t think of anywhere better to do it.

“If I can improve as much as the whole squad at Huddersfield has improved under Nathan Brown, then I’ll be happy.”

Grix has previously played for Halifax, Widnes, Leigh and Warrington and has covered a wide range of positions, including full-back, wing and stand-off throughout his career.

“I have had a few clubs over the years but I think every one of the moves I’ve made has been a positive one and one to improve myself,” Grix added.

“With the way they perform on the pitch, it’s going to be a big season for me.
