Huby and Shenton commit to Tigers

Castleford Tigers have been given a boost with two of their brightest young players, centre Michael Shenton and forward Craig Huby, committing to the club for the 2007 campaign.

Both had been linked with moves to other clubs, with a view to staying in Super League, but the retention of two local players and graduates of the Academy system was seen by the club as crucial and they have now pledged their immediate future to the club.

CEO Richard Wright said: "Michael and Craig are two young players who we have nurtured into top prospects and there was no way that we wanted to lose them. Understandably they are both ambitious and did consider the option of moving on to remain in Super League. However they have listened to Terry Matterson and appreciate that whilst relegation was a set back, the future here at Castleford remains bright and that we are very positive about achieving our goal of being a very successful Super League outfit.

"They are now fully committed to the Tigers and like everyone associated with the club, they are fully focused on one thing, ensuring that our absence from the top flight is a very short one. I'm sure that our fans will be delighted that we have persuaded them to stay and appreciate their commitment to the Tigers."

Both players are aged 20 and both have made 59 appearances for the Tigers, Michael 57 starts (+2 subs), Craig 21 (+38).
