How the media think Super League will finish in 2020

James Gordon

The collective minds of the rugby league media have been predicting how Super League will finish in the Betfred Media Challenge.

Superbly organised by Matthew Horton, throughout the season members of the press offer their weekly predictions on how games will finish.

Ahead of the new campaign, the 89 participants have also selected how they see Super League finishing 1-12.

Matt has been busy cumulating the predictions – there is no great science, the team picked first gets 12 points and so on to 1 point for being picked last. They are then added up and the table looks like this.

  1. St Helens
  2. Wigan
  3. Warrington
  4. Hull
  5. Leeds
  6. Castleford
  7. Catalans
  8. Salford
  9. Wakefield
  10. Toronto
  11. Huddersfield
  12. Hull KR

Of the 89 competitors in the Betfred Media Challenge, 74 have predicted St Helens to finish top, and 60 have predicted Hull KR to finish bottom.

St Helens are also favourite for Grand Final glory, with 57 votes – ahead of Wigan (22), Warrington (6), Hull (3) and Leeds (1).

Other teams mentioned for the drop are Huddersfield (13), Toronto (8), Wakefield (7) and Salford (1).

Huddersfield, Hull KR and Wakefield were the only teams not to get one prediction in the top five.
