How Leigh’s squad is shaping up for 2021

Drew Darbyshire

Leigh are putting an impressive squad together for the 2021 campaign.

At present, the Centurions will compete in the Championship next season but owner Derek Beaumont has confirmed the club’s interest in taking Super League’s vacant 12th spot.

John Duffy’s side have made 11 new signings so far – Ben Flower, Adam Sidlow, Craig Mullen, Matty Gee, James Bell, Jamie Ellis, Nathaniel Peteru, Blake Wallace, Ryan Brierley, Matty Russell and Joe Mellor.

The Centurions will have plenty of competition for a spot in the halves next season, with Mellor, Brierley, Wallace, Ellis and Mullen all able to play there.

There will be a strong Scottish contingent at the Leigh Sports Village in 2021 too, with Liam Hood, Ben Hellewell, Brierley, Bell and Russell having represented Scotland on the international stage.

Leigh’s forward pack will provide plenty of power too, with Flower, Sidlow, Tom Spencer, Jordan Thompson, Nathan Mason, Mark Ioane and Alex Gerrard all on board for 2021.

Leigh’s squad for 2021 so far:

Backs: Craig Mullen, Iain Thornley, Ben Hellewell, Ryan Shaw, Jamie Ellis, Blake Wallace, Junior Sa’u, Ryan Brierley, Matty Russell, Joe Mellor.

Forwards: Ben Flower, Adam Sidlow, Tom Spencer, Nathan Mason, Alex Gerrard, Mark Ioane, Liam Hood, Andy Thornley, Jordan Thompson, Matty Wildie, Matty Gee, James Bell, Nathaniel Peteru.
