How Hull KR could line-up in 2022

Hull KR have signed Lachlan Coote, Sam Wood, Frankie Halton, Tom Garratt and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e for their 2022 campaign.
Tony Smith’s side defeated Warrington in the play-offs in 2021 to make it as far as the semi-finals in an impressive campaign.
Here’s how Hull KR could look in 2022…
1 Lachlan Coote
In what is arguably the biggest signing this off-season, Hull KR have added full-back Lachlan Coote to their squad from St Helens on a two-year deal. The Scotland international made the switch to the Super League competition in 2019, and has won the Super League Grand Final every year since. He could be set for a big leadership role at Craven Park over the next two years.
2 Ben Crooks
Ben Crooks scored 10 Super League tries last season in 17 appearances. The winger signed a new one-year deal with the club in September for the 2022 season.
3 Jimmy Keinhorst
Germany international Jimmy Keinhorst may be promoted to a first-team spot following the departure of Greg Minikin to Warrington. The 31-year-old made the switch to rugby league with Leeds, and has since featured for Hunslet, Wakefield, Widnes, York and Castleford.
4 Shaun Kenny-Dowall
Shaun Kenny-Dowall made 20 Super League appearances in 2021, scoring five tries. The former NRL centre and New Zealand international has had a big impact at Hull KR, and signed a one-year extension for the 2022 campaign.
5 Ryan Hall
Ryan Hall finished third in the tally for most tries last season with 15. He had an impressive first year back from the NRL with Hull KR, and made 19 Super League appearances. He could be eyeing up a return to the international stage in 2022.
6 Jordan Abdull
With the number six shirt retired in memory of club great Roger Millward, Jordan Abdull wore seven last year but is a stand-off. He was rewarded with his strong 2021 season with an England cap, starting in the end of season test with France at Perpignan. Abdull, who was key in his side’s play-off victory over Warrington, was also nominated for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award last season.
7 Mikey Lewis
It’s likely he will start in the halves next year following an impressive season in 2021. He scored seven Super League tries in 10 appearances, and also appeared at Wembley on loan at York for their 1895 Cup final with Featherstone. The youngster recently signed a new four-year deal with the club.
8 Albert Vete
Tonga powerhouse Albert Vete made the move to Super League for the 2021 season from Melbourne Storm, where he made six appearances in 2020. He made 13 Super League appearances last year, scoring four tries.
9 Matt Parcell
A stand-out hooker in the competition, Matt Parcell signed a new one-year contract extension for the 2022 season. The 29-year-old has previously featured for Brisbane Broncos, Manly Sea Eagles and Leeds before joining Hull KR on a permanent basis in 2020.
10 Korbin Sims
Korbin Sims made 13 league appearances last season, and will be hoping to impress ahead of next year’s Rugby League World Cup in England. To date, he has won nine caps for Fiji, featuring in the 2013 World Cup.
11 Brad Takairangi
Brad Takairangi proved to be a solid signing for the Robins last year. He joined the club with more than 150 NRL appearances across stints with Sydney Roosters, Gold Coast Titans and Parramatta Eels, and was one of the club’s highlight players last season. A creative utility player, who can feature almost everywhere around the park, made 17 appearances last year, scoring twice. He will be hoping to represent the Cook Islands at next year’s World Cup.
12 Kane Linnett
Scotland international Kane Linnett was named in the 2021 Super League Dream Team. The 32-year-old, who signed a new one-year deal for 2022, made 20 league appearances last season, scoring 13 tries. He also scored a hat-trick against Leeds earlier in April.
13 Dean Hadley
Dean Hadley joined rivals Hull KR from Hull FC ahead of the 2020 season, and made 14 appearances last season. The forward’s campaign was cut short in August due to a shoulder injury. He has won one cap for England Knights.
Bench
With the likes of Halton, Wood, Garratt and Laulu-Togaga’e joining the club in 2022, there will be lots of competition for places.
