Hornets target back-to-back home wins

Rochdale boss Alan Kilshaw is hoping home advantage can play its part when the Hornets host Batley on Sunday.

Last week’s 28-14 victory over Bradford was just their second home success this season, but Kilshaw believes an uneven fixture schedule has impacted on his team’s results.

“We’ve been in a bit of a false position in our home form – we played Dewsbury and then played most of the teams above us one after another,” he said.

“Now we’re playing teams around us hopefully we can find some home form.

“Before last weekend we hadn’t played at home for five weeks so it was good to be back and hopefully that’ll have a knock on effect this week.

“Last time we played Batley we got what we deserved for one reason or another. There’s a bit of talk of revenge in the camp but I think Batley have improved since we last played them.

“They’ve had a new coach this year and it takes time, but some of the things he put in place are being done more consistently.

“They’re a really good side with some top players – we’re focused and confident though.

“It’s going to be a tough game but it’s one we’re looking forward to. It’ll probably be the game of the weekend.”
