Hornets aim for 10,000 crowd

Rochdale Hornets are encouraging all coop members and rugby league supporters to turn up for their game against Workington on Sunday July 10 as they look to attract a record crowd of 10,000.

The Hornets are the only supporter owned club in professional rugby league and is hosting its second Cooperative Day at Spotland next month, featuring entertainment throughout the afternoon ahead of the Championship 1 fixture.

The event is a celebration of the cooperative values that Hornets shares with a number of businesses across the UK and further afield and will bring to an end the country wide celebration of Coop Fortnight.  The event will also be supporting Mencap and for every ticket sold a donation will be made to the charity.

The match will this year be sponsored by Supporters Direct, the umbrella organisation for supporters trusts in the UK and across Europe and Laura Harrison, Rugby League Development Manager said of the event: “Hornets are a fine example of how supporter ownership can work in rugby league and they’ve really embraced the cooperative values that all of our trusts share.  It should be a great event.”

Tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
