Horne ready for first challenge

New Doncaster boss Richard Horne faces a baptism of fire for his first game in charge of the South Yorkshire club.

Donny visit Whitehaven on Sunday with the hosts seeking their tenth win in a row and Horne admits it will be a tough test for his team.

“I’ve had two good weeks getting to know the lads and seeing if they can adapt to the way I want them to play,” said Horne.

“Whitehaven is a tough place to go and they’re in good form so it’s definitely a challenge for my first game.

“They’re a big, powerful side and that’s something we’ve got to contend with. Their middles do a good job of getting them on the front foot.

“If we can combat that and come up with a game plan that makes them less effective and takes some energy out of the middle we’ll be in good stead to get a result.

“The lads are in good form themselves though – they had a good draw against Barrow and they’re working hard for each other and that goes a long way.”
