Hood released by Rhinos

Leeds have released young hooker Liam Hood with immediate effect.

Hood, 21, has failed to make a first team appearance for the Rhinos this season, instead turning out for Hunslet on dual-registration.

Chief executive Gary Hetherington said: “Liam has become frustrated with his lack of game time in the first team and asked to be released so he could speak to other clubs.

“He leaves with our best wishes and everyone at Headingley Carnegie wishes him good luck for the future.”

Hood made his debut, scoring a try, in the Round 5 win over Castleford in 2012.

He went on to make four further first team appearances, the last coming against Huddersfield in September last year, his one and only start for the club.
