Holbrook wants another magic weekend

Justin Holbrook has urged his players to repeat their Magic Weekend heroics when they face Hull on Friday.

Saints ran out 45-0 winners against Lee Radford’s team at St James’ Park and Holbrook is hoping for more of the same this weekend.

“It was a great game up there at Magic Weekend and it would be nice to get another good result this Friday,” he said.

“Hull have shown they are a good side. They came home strong against Cas and have been playing well most of the year.

“We played well at Magic and we will need to produce that again this Friday to beat them.

“It is an important game for us. We fell just short last Friday and it would have been a great win considering we ran without a half-back for most of the game and lost a player to the sin-bin.

“If we get a win we are still in the mix. All along I have said anything could happen because there are so many uncertainties in our game.

“It is such an even competition. I know we need to string some wins together and you don’t know what other teams will do.

“So for people to say you’re gone, you won’t make the four, I totally don’t get that at all.

“We have to win games to give ourselves a chance, but it’s not like other teams won’t suffer in terms of form too.

“I thought we played one of our best games on Friday since I have been here. We looked pretty good, but Leeds were just as good.

“We showed a lot of character, but just couldn’t get the win.”
