Holbrook refuses to rule out Wardle move

Justin Holbrook has refused to rule out making a move for Joe Wardle.

The 25-year-old, who is currently playing for the NRL’s Newcastle Knights, is believed to want to return to the UK at the end of the season.

With former Saints player Nathan Brown in charge of the Knights, Holbrook could have an advantage if a possible transfer develops.

“I know there’s a few clubs interested, but he’s still contracted with the Knights so there would have to be an arrangement done there,” said Holbrook.

“It just got flagged to us that he was looking to come home. I’ve been told there are a few clubs looking at him and it all depends – there’s a lot of things to be looked at beforehand.

“It wouldn’t be done this season, but he’s a quality player. It will all depend on how it all unfolds.

“It’s really early interest, but there’s nothing being nearly done with us.

“Nathan’s got a great connection with the club, but he’s currently coaching him over there so will probably want to keep him there I’d assume.

“I’m not too sure how it’ll pan out but it’ll be an interesting one, especially with the fact that he’s meant to stay in the NRL and apparently wants to come home.”
