Hodgson says he can improve

Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson believes he can get better in the NRL as he enters his second year in the competition.

Hodgson made a succesful transition from Hull KR to the Raiders in 2015.

But the forward is after more improvement from himself as the Green Machine look to reach the NRL finals this year.

Hodgson said he is more confident now after getting through his debut season.

“It was an OK year for me last year,” he told the Canberra website.

“I went alright but there’s still things I can improve. Your first year you’re kind of going into the unknown – you don’t really know much about the competition itself.

“You’re kind of worrying how you’re going to go. But it’s about believing that if you work hard you can achieve things.”

Hodgson has been joined at the Raiders this year by fellow England international Elliot Whitehead.

“I think we’ve really hit the ground running,” he said.

“The effort from the boys has been fantastic so far and I’m sure that will carry on this year.”

Hodgson is off-contract at the end of 2016 but is keen to stay in Canberra.

“I don’t want the panic is really, I think everyone things I’m about to pack up my boxes and run away,” the 26-year old joked.

“I don’t see the panic to be honest. I’m happy here. I’ll talk to the club in good time. I’m not going to go asking around and knocking on doors to go anywhere else.

“There’s no rush…. There’s no reason for anyone to worry.”
