Heremaia positive about Widnes future

Widnes hooker Aaron Heremaia is very pleased to be staying with the Vikings, after signing a new one-year deal last week.

While Heremaia likes the homely atmosphere at Widnes, he also wants to the team to start getting serious about being successful on the field.

“It was an easy decision really [to sign the new deal],” he told BBC Merseyside’s Try Time radio show.

“I think I had it done in a week.

“Everyone’s on the same page and it’s a good atmosphere round here.

“People say it’s real comfortable round here, so we”ve got to start turning that into some results on the field now.”

The Vikings have added to their squad for 2016, with signings such as Corey Thompson and Chris Houston.

Heremaia hopes that the new arrivals can boost the Vikings out on the pitch.

“If course you want to strengthen the squad, and we have done that this year,” he added.

“We just missed out on the top eight last year.

“I think we’re steadily improving and doing well, but we need to kick on this year.”
