New Championship 1 side Hemel Stags have signed former Catalan youngster Remy Marginet for next season.

Marginet, 23, made two Super League appearances for the Dragons in 2011, and has been signed by the Stags to fill one of their half-back roles for 2013.

Head Coach Troy Perkins said: “I am really pleased to have signed Remy. We have been on the lookout for a quality halfback for a while now and it is great to have a player with some Super League first team experience join our squad. He is still young but has come though a good system at Catalan Dragons and he would have learnt a lot from his coaches Trent Robinson and Steve Deakin.”

Perkins is himself a former Catalan player, albeit for the UTC club before the Dragons entry in to Super League in 2006, and has utilised his contacts in Perpignan to make the deal happen.

He added: “I have watched a fair bit of footage of Remy and have been impressed with what I have seen. He has a good kicking game, is pretty lively and a real handful when he takes the line on. I am looking forward to working with him in preseason.”

Hemel have also signed James Howitt, Kazeem Faturoti and Guy Aldam to their squad for 2013, as well as handing deals to Hemel Juniors Ash Fyson and Ben Kavanagh.
