Hemel Stags have continued their squad building for next season with the signings of Eddie Mbaraga and Jake Hobbs.

Forward Mbaraga, a former London Broncos academy player, has been with the Stags for five years, turning out for them in the Rugby League Conference, while Hobbs makes the switch from rugby union side Ealing.

Head Coach Troy Perkins said: “Eddie has been with the club five seasons and been one of our most consistent performer over that time. He came through a good system at the Broncos and he is a very talented player.

“He has got good footwork for a big man, is a damaging fringe runner and can find the try line.

“Jake has had a real good pre-season and has earned a contract. He has been playing at professional club Ealing RFC but he wanted a new challenge and wanted to come and have a trial.

“He has impressed me with his attitude and he has good skills and will be a good addition in the centres or second row.

“He is still new to rugby league but he is improving all the time and I think he will develop into a decent player at this level.”

Hemel will take on London Broncos in a pre-season friendly on January 27th, and take on Championship 1 rivals Gateshead on February 16th.
