Heffernan keen to build momentum

Andrew Heffernan says Hull KR need to keep their foot on the gas during their remaining regular season fixtures.

Rovers visit Featherstone on Sunday on the back of a hard fought victory over Bradford at the Summer Bash and Heffernan believes the team need to maintain their form ahead of the Qualifiers.

“There’s plenty of points still up for grabs for us – it’s not so much about our end tally, but more about building as a group individually and collectively,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.

“We’ve got to learn how to win in different situations and Bradford was one of those.

“In terms of the conditions, it was our toughest game as the ball was like soap at times but in terms of physicality, we’ve had tougher.

“There’s times when we had to dig deep and grind it out, but you learn huge lessons from games like that and it will hold us in good stead.

“I think there was a bit of relief and joy at the final whistle. To come away with the win was the main thing and we’re six points clear now which is good in terms of the competition.”

While Rovers were battling past Bradford, Featherstone were beaten 42-18 by London Broncos at Bloomfield Road.

Heffernan says Jon Sharp’s team will be eager to make amends this weekend.

“Featherstone are going to be upset because they’ve been putting in some good performances prior to the Summer Bash,” he added.

“We’ll see a side that really wants to hit back and take us on again.”
