Hay tips Arundel to shine

Hull assistant coach Andy Hay has tipped new arrival Joe Arundel to shine at the KC Stadium.

Arundel, 21, has joined the Airlie Birds from Castleford on a four-year deal, and he is chomping at the bit after missing a large chunk of last season with a shoulder injury.

Hay said: “I know Joe really well and he’s a fair player. It was disappointing not to see him play too much last year but he’s come to the club and he’s really excited about playing for Hull FC.

“The difference between what he was doing at Castleford and what he’s done so far in training here have also helped him and he’s stepped up a gear already. He’s settled in really well and he’s raring to go.

“He’ll bring some strength to our squad and with Kirk Yeaman and Ben Crooks also here, he knows it will take his best form to get in the side.

“He still has some little things to work on in his game and we’ve already tried to do that in pre-season but I’m sure he’ll be a very good player for Hull FC in the future.”

The England Knights international made his Super League debut back in 2008, and went on to score 16 tries in 44 appearances for the Tigers.
