Hunslet Hawks have announced the signing of prop forward Ryan Benjafield from the Keighley Cougars on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old Australian, who holds a British passport, has previously had spells with the Penrith Panthers as well as a wealth of experience in the Championships with Rochdale, Workington and Keighley.

Commenting on the signing, Hawks Head Coach Barry Eaton said “I’ve been interested in signing Ryan for quite some time, he’s just the kind of forward I’ve been looking for and has a lovely pair of hands in rugby terms and plays the game the way I like my forwards to play.

“His arrival at South Leeds increases the number of front row men I have available for selection and he will certainly step up competition for first team places.”
