Hawks swoop for Bulls Windley

Hunslet Hawks RLFC have announced the signing of Callum Windley from Bradford Bulls on a 1 year contract.

Callum is a 21 year old hooker and is the son of former Hull FC player Phil Windley and the nephew of former Hawk Johan Windley.

He made his only appearance for the Bulls in a challenge cup game against Doncaster from the bench back in April. He can also cover both half back positions. He is a tough competitor with pace off the mark who was highly recommended to the club by Bulls Assistant Coach Lee St Hilaire.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said “Were thrilled to have finally attracted Callum to South Leeds after a 3 year chase, his versatility around the decision making areas was a key attraction but initially we see him as the ideal foil for Luke Haigh and his darts from dummy half and eye for an opening make him a very strong addition to our squad for 2013.”

Williams added “He has recently started employment as a Physical Education teacher at South Leeds Academy and with the clubs close links with the Academy we see this as another opportunity to push Hunslet Hawks right to the forefront of the youth at the Academy.”

Finally Williams revealed that second row forward Scott Watson has signed a 12 month contract extension and that the clubs squad for 2013 is very close to completion.
