Haven to throw 9s party

Whitehaven are set to create a party atmosphere this evening as the Recreation Ground hosts the final round of 9’s fixtures with team Cumbria hoping to progress.

The West Cumbrian based outfit have embraced the concept of the 9’s tournament and want to attract a bumper crowd by running a series of activities throughout the evening, including a bouncy castle and Elvis tribute act.

Home side ‘Cumbria’ will comprise of players from both Whitehaven and Workington, just two days after a fiercely contested debry between the two sides, with Whitehaven emerging 22-10 victors.

Cumbria will line up against Wigan, Warrington and Salford, in what will be a hotly contested round of fixtures, with all sides fighting to make it through to the finals weekend at Headingly Carenegie.

Gates open at 6pm at the Recreation Ground this evening, with tickets priced at £5 for adults and free for children if they’re accompanied by a paying adult.

There are a host of 9’s fixtures being played this evening as the competition reaches it’s climax with games at Headingley Carnegie, Probix Coliseum, The Stobart Stadium as well as The Recreation Ground.
